Trip to the House of Commons

Trip to the House of Commons

On Tuesday 12th November I went to the House of Commons to speak to Edward Timpson- MP -Parliamentary under Secretary of State for Children and Families. There were many young people who attended from all over the country to discuss about Entitlements for children in care and conclusions from surveys given to young people in the summer. The results of these showed a low percentage of knowledge about what they are entitled to when in care and at what age they can receive the entitlements. Many questions were asked and answered by Mr. Timpson and new ways to ensure that young people receive information about their entitlements were found. This was an amazing experience for me to be offered the chance to attend such an important meeting, because it helped me understand entitlements more clearly and also gives me the chance to help other young people with in care to understand their entitlements. Meeting someone in parliament who wanted to meet with young people also made me feel more positive about how the system wants to support young people in general  J
